Robert F. "Rob" Waldvogel, Jr. M.D., 40, of Decatur, died on Sun. Sept. 17, 2006 in Idaho Falls, ID.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 am Fri. Sept. 22, 2006 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin celebrant. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 pm Thurs. at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a Vigil Prayer Service at 4 pm. A visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 am followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Mass on Sat. Sept. 23, 2006 at the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Robert F. Waldvogel, M.D. Scholarship Fund at Decatur Memorial Hospital/Bradley University Nurse Anesthesia Program.
Rob was born on Oct. 5, 1965 in Joliet, the son of Robert F. and Eleanor Rusko Waldvogel, Sr. A devout catholic, Rob regularly attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church here in Decatur. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, graduate degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, did his Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Wisconsin, Madison and served a fellowship at the Gloucester Royal Hospital in Gloucester England. Rob came to Decatur in 1999 to join Associated Anesthesiologists of Decatur. He was a member of the American Board of Anesthesiology and National Board of Medical Examiners. He was also an active member of the Illinois and American Societies of Anesthesiologists. Rob was proud to be a faculty member of the Graduate School of Nursing at Bradley University and taught in the Nurse Anesthesia Program at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are his parents, Robert F. and Eleanor Rusko Waldvogel, Sr. of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI; sister, Lisa Marie Waldvogel of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI; brother, James Rusko Waldvogel of Royal Oak, MI; sweetheart, Molly Kathryn Paschal of Decatur; Aunts and Uncles: James and Rita Fagan of New Lenox, IL; Dr. Ronald and Kathleen Rusko of Grosse Pointe Shores, MI; and William and Virginia Waldvogel of New Lenox, IL; numerous cousins, friends and colleagues.
Rob was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ann and Anthony Rusko and Louise and Leo Waldvogel.
