Lit a candle in memory of Robert D. Walker
I remember Bob always wrestling around with us kids when he came over, and telling military stories. The last time I saw him was a great memory. My girlfriend and I took him to church with us in Taylorville. He said he enjoyed going to different churches when he could and listening to different sermons. I remember when the churches offering cup came around Bob opened his wallet and put everything he had in there. I recall seeing numerous fifty dollar bills and twenties. This was his first and only time at our church and he donated hundreds of dollars. This was very inspiring and shows how loving and generous Bob was. He will forever be missed. Thanks for the good memories Bob. RIP
My most fond memory of Bob was how every time he would come over he would wrestle with me, my brother and sister when we were young. He would always challenge me and my brother to punch him in the stomach as hard as we could. It never seemed to phase him! A few years ago he stopped by my parents and I asked him if I could punch him in the stomach….he reluctantly declined! I will miss you, Bob!! I will see you in heaven some day and you better be ready for me to punch you in the stomach when I do!
Bob: As kids we shared many games, laughs and conversations in our neighborhood and as adults our paths crossed countless times and each encounter was cherished because of your laugh, humor and friendliness – your warmth. I will miss you. May God keep you safe!Kevin Jon Kelley
Bob was both a fine Seabee and a great person, and I'm proud to have served with him. I was very sorry to hear of his passing – he will be missed.
As a young Seabee and new EO I had the privilege to work with Bobby in Spain on my first deployment. Always a guy that was so positive and willing to help me learn. A great Seabee and a man that will be missed.
Shannon and Shayla, Mike and I are so very sorry for your loss. I personally was stunned to hear the news. Ive known Bob to always be so active and full of life. I have too many memories to pick just one but one that comes to my mind is the day he helped Mike and I move into our home here in Langleyville and how he suggested we take all you kids camping out to Sanchrias Lake that evening. He had a big tent for you two and my 3 kids to sleep in. We stayed up late by the fire and talked the night away. He was an amazing father and a true friend. Whenever he would call and if I answered the phone he would always try to prank me by claiming to be a salesman or the pizza delivery guy or anyone besides himself. He got me a few times with that prank. We'll always miss him and think of him in the fondest of ways.
Bob was a good friend and fellow Seabee, I remember going to Cadiz Spain just the two of us for a day of sightseeing when we were mobilized over there, I will always remember Bob as a good friend. CE1 Don Hilligoss USN (ret)
I had the Honor and pleasure to serve with Bob in the Seabees. He exibited Navy core values in all he did: Honor, Courage and Commitment. I could always rely on hiim.
