Robert C. Younger's Obituary
Robert C. Younger, 83, of Decatur, died Sunday, January 13, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Younger was born August 15, 1924 in Decatur, the son of Charles and Florence Carter Younger. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Lexington in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #146, American Legion Castle Williams Post #105, Men of the Blue Ghost Association, USS Lexington Museum On The Bay Corpus Christi, TX, and Local #146 Retiree's Club. Bob married Margaret L. Weber on September 11, 1948 in St. Thomas Catholic Church. They shared 59 ½ years together.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Decatur; sons: Robert J. Younger of Hot Springs, AR, and John C. Younger of Chicago; daughters: Christine Younger of Champaign, Cathy Younger of Decatur, Karen Steve Neil of Naperville, Laurie Russell Vasta of Champaign, and Debbie Jeff Augustine of Decatur; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren; brother, David M. Younger of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Joseph; parents; brother, Lynn and sister, Beverly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at St. James Catholic Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from 5 to 7 pm at the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, vigil prayer service at 4:30 pm. Burial with Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: St. James Catholic Church.
