Roberta Ruth Durnil's Obituary
Roberta “Bert” Ruth (Kern) Durnil, 92, of Big Lake, MN, formerly of Decatur, IL, passed away on her birthday, Saturday, January 9, 2016. She died in her daughter’s home in Minnesota from lung cancer.
Bert was born January 9, 1924, in Decatur, the daughter of Lawrence “Friday” and Ruth (Moran) Kern. She married Dale E. Durnil in 1942. Bert attended Stephen Decatur High School and Millikin University. She was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast and loved playing scrabble.
Bert is survived by her daughter, Mickey Delfino (Lance) of Big Lake, MN; her sons, Chris Durnil (Vicky) of Decatur, IL and Casey Durnil (Michele) of Chino Valley, AZ; seven grandchildren, Todd, Tim and Tom Durnil, Amy Clarke (Greg) and Cory Durnil (Amanda), and Nicole Delfino Jansen (Chip) and Matthew Delfino, (Lauren); ten great-grandchildren ; and her friend and trusty dog, Curly who has gone to AZ to live out his life with her son, Casey, his wife and their dog, Spencer.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Dale, who passed away November 5, 2003, and her brother, L.E.”Bud” Kern Jr.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Bert Durnil will be in Brown’s Cemetery at 10 a.m. May 12, 2016.
