Roberta S. Haws' Obituary
Roberta S. Haws, 65, of Decatur, daughter of Lloyd and Erma Britton Kuydendall of White County died Monday July 12, 2004 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
When she left this world she took the smile that warmed many a heart. The smile that made everyone feel as if it was made just for them. The same smile that stopped the heart of a young Jimmie L. Haws and it didn't start it up again until their wedding day on April 14, 1956. His heart only beat for that smile every moment since then. Roberta, who everyone called Bert, was widely known for her love of animals and her way of always speaking truthfully and directly to people. Bert worked for Dr. Banicki's Eldorado Animal Hospital many years and started her own pet grooming business in 1974. She had literally hundreds of loyal customers and was known to have the ability to charm even the unruliest dog.
As per her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial. If any one wishes to honor her memory, they can do so by pledging to always treat all animals with love. If they wish to donate to a charity in her name, the Salvation Army was Bert's favorite. Bert left behind many saddened relatives and friends. A few of them are her husband, son Mike Haws of Clinton, granddaughters Christin Haws, Clinton and Lindsay Haws, Bloomington. Great granddaughters Samara and Teaghan of Bloomington, sister Jo Ellen Etnire of Alamogordo, N.M., nephew Allen Helmanson, Texas, great nieces Jessi Helmanson, Texas, niece Nancy Bass, Decatur, great nephew Jacob Barber, Decatur, Cousins Dorothy Downen, Clearance and Liz Kern, White County and many nephews and nieces of her husband's family. She also left her oldest and best friend, Irma Jean Phillips of Mt. Zion. God willing, they will all someday join Bert and once again see that beautiful smile.
