Roger Lee Davis' Obituary
Roger Lee Davis, 85, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Fair Havens Christian Home, with his family by his side.
Roger was born May 30, 1931, in Decatur to Milton Robert and Effie (Morgan) Davis. He proudly served in the United States Army. He married Blanche Mona Flannigan on December 2, 1956, in Decatur. He was a member of GT Church.
Roger worked for the Decatur Police Department for 18 years, an American Family Insurance Agent for 3 years and he was President of Davis Security Inc. for 20 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Blanche; two sons, Steven Davis of Decatur and Kevin (Carla) Davis of Moweaqua; five daughters, Robin (Michael) Petrowsky of Decatur, Kimberly Chaney of Decatur, Holly (Curtis) Snoke of Dalton City, Allison (Matthew) Hullinger of Long Creek and Melanie (Jon) Harvel of Mt. Pulaski; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Davis; one daughter, Billie Jo Ward; one daughter-in-law, Toni Davis; one son-in-law, Randell S. Chaney; and one sister, Norma Jean Portwood.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Fair Havens Christian Home for their loving care and compassion over the last 5 years.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Roger Davis will be 12 noon Monday, August 29, 2016, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Monday at the funeral home before the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated later.
