Roland W. Goranson's Obituary
Roland W. "Ron" Goranson, 81, of Decatur, died on Thurs, July 6, 2006 in the Lincoln Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be 2 pm. Mon. July 10, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pastor Russell Weise officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at a later date.
Ron was born on Jan. 16, 1925 in Chicago, the son of Carl and Margaret Vicon Goranson. A U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, Ron worked as a transmition technician for AT&T for 27 years before retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the racquet club in Arizona. He married Leah Stienmetz on July 10, 1957 in Chicago.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 49 years, Leah of Decatur; daughter, Verna husband, James Shuppara of Decatur; brother, Walton Goranson of Arizonz; sister, Carmen Donaldson of Crest Hill, IL; grandchildren: Michael wife, Nancy Thorsen, Meredith husband, Kevin Zimmerman, Allison and Emily Shuppara; great grandchildren: Taylor and Lauren Thorsen, Alex and Abby Zimmerman; niece, Diane Miller of Flagstaff, AZ.
