Ronald B. Barthelemy's Obituary
Ava, MO – Ronald Byron Barthelemy, of Ava, Missouri, formerly of Decatur, Illinois, passed away Friday August 30, 2013 in his home.
Ronald was born November 22, 1941, in Kalispell, Montana to Byron Walter Barthelemy and Margaret Rimel. He was raised in Bonner’s Ferry, Idaho by his father and grandparents, Walter and Ruth. Ron married Janet Hayes on February 21, 1965. He was a member of Local #65 Plumbers & Pipefitters and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War as an SP4 E-4, beginning in the 1st Cavalry Division. Ron received two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, a Combat Infantry Badge, a National Defense Service Medal, a Viet Nam Service Medal, and an Expert Rifle/Sniper Badge for his service to our country
Ronald is survived by his step-mother, Doris Barthelemy; daughters: Tina (Kevin) Finch of Decatur,IL, and Shari Barthelemy of Ava, MO; son, Phillip Barthelemy of Decatur, IL. Grandchildren: Katy Finch, Haley (Britt) Jones, and Jeremy (Jenn) Finch; sisters: Barbara (James) Lamberth, Patti (Richard) Toliver, and Mary (Richard) Smith; brothers: Jerry (Judy) Barthelemy, Terry (Rosemary) Barthelemy, Stephen (Doris) Barthelemy, Rick (Jan) Beus, and Mike Beus; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Private graveside services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in honor of his services in the Army during the Viet Nam War. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Macon County Honor Guard.
Ron was preceded in death by his wife Janet, father Byron, and brother Larry.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wall for the 30 years of care that he gave Ron.
