Ronald E. Cox's Obituary
Ronald E. 'Ronnie' Cox, 78, of Decatur passed away on Friday, November 23, 2012 in his home.
Ron was born on July 2, 1934 in Casey, IL the son of Golden and Mabel (Garrett) Cox. He was a co-founder of E & E Baseball and a coach for the Broncos team for 10 years. He retired from Illinois Power after 42 years, and he graduated and played basketball for Lakeview High School. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Illini, and Chicago Bears fan. He married Edie Griffin on April 22, 1955 in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife, Edie; son, Daniel Cox of Decatur; daughters, Rhonda (Royal) Plankenhorn of Decatur; Laurie (Chuck) Bolsen of Decatur; Susie (Greg) Johnson of New Richmond, WI; exchange-student daughter, Alina Herrera of Miami, FL; 8 grandchildren, Rob Plankenhorn, Sara Plankenhorn, Chad (Ginger), Bolsen Lindsay Bolsen, Brandon Johnson, Blake Johnson, Beau Johnson and Antonia Herrera; 3 great-grandchildren, Dominique, Corydon, and Hailey; and 19 international grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Scott Kevin Cox, and one sister, Mary Ann Sherwood.

Funeral Liturgy to celebrate Ron's life will be 11 AM Tuesday in Our Lady of Holy Spirit Catholic Church conducted by Deacon Jim Ghiglione. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and 10 -11 AM Tuesday in the church. The family request casual attire Burial will be in St. Isidore Cemetery.
