Ronald Lee Gifford's Obituary
Ronald Lee Gifford, 80, of Decatur passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011in the VA Illiana Health Care System.
Ronald was born on June 18, 1931 in Decatur the son of Homer and Mable Elzie Gifford. He was retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad after 45 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post 99. He served his country during the Korean War in the US Marines. He married Mary Frances “Peggy” Stoutenborough on October 5, 1956 in Decatur, IL.
He survived by his wife Peggy, children John Gifford Carol of Mt. Zion; Gail Marlow Robert of Decatur; Kelly Gifford of Decatur; sister, Minerva Reynolds of Mt. Zion; six grandchildren two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.
Funeral procession will leave Moran & Goebel Funeral Home at 10:30 am Monday July 25, 2011 for a graveside service at 11:00 am in Ritchie Cemetery in rural Cerro Gordo with Military Rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
