Ronald A. Marques' Obituary
Ronald A. Marques, 74, of Decatur went home to be with his Lord surrounded by his family on Sunday March 2, 2008 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Wednesday March 5, 2008 in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Forsyth, IL with Pastor John Hafermann officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 ' 11:30 am Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial gifts are suggested to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Forsyth, IL or the Special Olympics.
Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born on January 7, 1934 in Decatur, IL the son of Russell and Hazel Garver Marques. He worked as a heat treat operator for Caterpillar retiring in 1986 after 30 years of service. He was also a UAW retiree. He married Joyce D. Shotton on November 8, 1952 in Decatur, IL. He loved fishing, feeding the squirrels and birds, and yard work. He was a faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Forsyth.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce, sons, David Marques Edith of Mt. Zion; Gary Marques Sharon of Decatur; daughters, Cathy Burgstahler Max of Decatur; Nancy Kramer Jim of Decatur; brothers, Jack Marques Delores of Oreana; Jerry Marques Gloria of Decatur; sisters, Rosemary Anderson of Decatur; Karen Boliard Eugene of Staunton; grandchildren, Jason Marques Nickie, Lucas Kramer, Holly Kramer fiancé, Craig Stear, Cindy Whaley, Heath Whaley Heather, Kasey Marques, Zane Burgstahler Rebecca, Evan Burgstahler, Karsten Burgstahler, great-grandchildren Caitlin Whaley, Emma Whaley, Caleb Whaley, and Megin Stitz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Martha Braun.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at DMH ICU west and south especially Brian, Michelle, Betsy, Liz, Matt, and 4100 Marilyn White.
