Ronald Nelson Miles' Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ron Miles, who departed this life on April 17, 2025, at the age of 85 at St. John’s Hospital. He was a beloved husband of 65 years to Marian Miles and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Born on November 7, 1939, in Argenta, IL, Ron was the son of Norma Smallwood and Paul Miles. He grew up in Argenta and Bement, where he developed a passion for fishing, hunting, and conservation. He loved his dogs immensely.
Ron is survived by his wife Marian, sister Shirley (Durbin), grandsons Mark Baskerville (Chelsea) and Zach Miles (Veronika), great-grandchildren Sophia, Levi, Owen, Zander, and Lenny. He was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy and son Rodney.
Ron was a hard worker. He worked several jobs before reaching the age of 18 and in 1959 started at General Cable. He also worked at Firestone and then worked in construction until he retired.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2nd at 3pm, with visitation one hour before the service, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate Ron’s life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Ron Miles. All proceeds are to the benefit of his beloved wife, Marian.
