Rosie May Carter's Obituary
Rosie May Carter, 89, of Decatur died Friday July 10, 2009 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday July 14, 2009 in Calvary Baptist Church, 1833 S. Country Club Road with Pastor Mitchell Flesch officiating. Visitation will be one hour before service in the church. Private family burial will be at a later date in Salem Cemetery.
Mrs. Carter was born on April 7, 1920 in Bloomington, IL the daughter of Jesse and Hattie Albert Daniels. She worked at Carson Pirie Scott and Woolworths in downtown Decatur. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She married Harold E. Carter on March 27, 1938 in Decatur he preceded her in death on September 6, 1990. She was a devoted wife and mother always putting others first. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mother was the dearest and sweetest and we will miss her.
Surviving are her daughters, Bev Carter of Decatur; Donna Gilbert and special son-in-law, Harold of Forsyth; Gloria Nelson of Decatur; sisters, Nora Carter and Betty Teshner both of Decatur; grandchildren, Alan Nelson and wife Marty of Decatur; Eric “Chip” Gilbert and wife Franci of Decatur; Tim Gilbert and wife Vicki of Forsyth; great-grandchildren, Kyle Gilbert, Ryan Gilbert, Bryce Gilbert, Jake Gilbert, Sydney Gilbert, Jemma Gilbert, Amy Parrett, Adam Nelson, Taylor Nelson, Nikki Nelson, and Jeramey McClure.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, and two sisters.
