Roy Allen Hunsley, 71, of Decatur, died on Thursday, January 08, 2004 in his home surrounded by his family.
Services celebrating Roy's life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2004 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Pastor Wray Offerman officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorials to: St. Paul's Lutheran Church Senior Care Ministry, L.S.A. Library or Kindergarten Program or DMH Hospice.
Roy was born on April 28, 1931 in Clinton, the son of John R. "Boots" and Laura Riney Hunsley. Roy was a district sales manager for the Purity Baking Company where he was employed for 46 years before retiring in May of 1994. He then worked in circulation at the Herald and Review for 3 years. Roy was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church where he was very active in many ministries and various boards. Roy was also a coach for Northtown Baseball for 10 years. Roy married Edith Laskowski on June 23, 1951 in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife of more than 52 years; children: Mark Hunsley, wife Diane of Lincoln; Monica Boyer, husband Ron of Decatur; Melinda "Mindy" Bremer, husband Lynn of Valparaiso, IN; brother, Robert Hunsley, wife Carol of Orland Park; sisters: Terry Yates of Decatur; Lou Ellen Mollet, husband Jim of Clinton; grandchildren: Zachary and Emily Boyer; Bryce, Brent and Katie Hunsley; Anna and Matthew Bremer; 2 nephews and 7 nieces. Special friends: Mildred and Corey Bond; Judy, Paul, Tim and Gina Rooney.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one infant sister.
