Ruby M. Gagnon's Obituary
Decatur-Ruby M. Gagnon, 80, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, April 07, 2013, in her home with her family by her side.
Ruby was born October 25, 1932 in Porter, Minnesota the daughter of Jesse Smith. She was a devoted wife and homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Eagles Auxiliary, and volunteered at DMH. She loved to dance and to travel she has seen forty-eight states and most of Canada. She married George J. Gagnon, Jr. June 30, 1952 in Green Valley, Minnesota.
She leaves behind her husband George, children Mark Gagnon and special friend Laurie of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Michael (Karen) Gagnon of Decatur, Monica (Dave) Nicholls of Oreana, David (Maranda) Gagnon of Decatur, Douglas (Lori) Gagnon of Decatur, and Diane (Bret) Beaver of Springtown, Texas, brother Lowell Matthews of Arizona, sister Violet DeVos of Minnesota, favorite aunt Bertha McCarthy, favorite cousin Eddie Smith, eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was reunited in Heaven with her mother and two sisters.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Guaglianone and staff and to Harbor Light Hospice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 3850 Lourdes Dr. Decatur, with Rev. Rick Weltin Celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cerro Gordo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.
