Ruby L. Robinson's Obituary
Ruby L. “Mama” Robinson, 64, of Decatur departed this life to be with her Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2009 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
“Mama Ruby” was born June 30, 1945 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Richard and Mary Foster King. She was a faithful member of Church of the Living God C.W.F.F.; she joined under the direction of Bishop E.A. Morgan. She was also a member of the Gospel Chorus. Mama Ruby worked for CB& Q as a security guard for many years. She also was a counselor for Decatur Mental Health Center. She married George A. “The Great” Robinson on June 29, 1983. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2002.
Ruby leaves not to mourn but to cherish fond memories her son, Derrick L. “Peter” King and grandsons, Brandon L. King, Joshua P. King and wife Lessiah of Decatur; brother, Robert L. King of St. Louis, MO; sister, Evelyn Sanders of Decatur; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; best friend, Bertha Ridley of Decatur; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Otis King; Gene A. King; sisters, Katherine L. Taylor; Saphonya King.
“Mama Ruby” was loved by many people. She played shortstop and other position for the B.B. All-Stars. She loved BINGO and being around friends; she will be missed but not forgotten. Jesus called her home, and she was well prepared and ready to go.

Homegoing services for “Mama Ruby” will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 23, 2009 in Church of the Living God C.W.F.F. with Elder Elston Carter officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 AM ' 1:00 PM Friday in the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
