Ruby Lee Wallace's Obituary
Ruby Lee Wallace, 93, of Decatur, peacefully slipped away from life on Tuesday, August 25, 2009.
Ruby was born on January 24, 1916 in Brownsville, Tenn., the daughter of Charles E. and Clander Read Davis. She worked maintenance for Goods Furniture before finally retiring from Carson Pirie Scott in 1978. She was married to Wellington Wallace Sr. for 60 years before his death in 1993. She was an active member of the Church of the Living God CWFF for over 80 years, where she sang for the Gospel Chorus, enjoyed Women’s Work, was a Sunday school teacher, an usher, and participated in foreign missions. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, quilting, and cooking.
She leaves not to mourn but to cherish fond memories her two sons, Wellington Wallace Jr. wife, Elsie “Tippy”, and Charles Wallace wife, Roberta “Robin”, both of Decatur; daughter-in-law, Doris Wallace, of Decatur; eleven grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; and fifteen great-great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son in infancy, and one grand daughter, Lacey.
Homegoing Celebration will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 29, 2009 in Church of the Living God CWFF, Temple 46, 400 S. Franklin St., Decatur, with Elder James Walker officiating, and Pastor James Hodges eulogy, with visitation one hour before service in the church. Visitation will also be Friday from 5 – 8pm in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park.
