Decatur-Ruby Thelma Williamson, 77 of Decatur, IL died Friday, March 20 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Ruby T. Williamson was born March 31, 1937, to the late Eugene and Lou Agnes Adams in Mason, Tennessee. She was one of fourteen children born to this union.
Her last job was as a cook at the Holiday Inn. She loved to cook. Everyone loved her cooking especially her cornbread.
Thelma leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Lanston (Sonny) Williamson, Sr., Decatur; her daughter, Emma J. Williamson, Joliet, IL; her son, Lanston (Rocio) Williamson, Jr., Berwyn, IL; grandsons: Lanston Dwayne (Nikki) May, Decatur, IL; Trenton C. Williamson, Kennesaw, GA; Dante E. Williamson and Roberto Rodriguez, Berwyn, IL; granddaughters: Sable K. Williamson, Springfield, IL; Faye May (Curt) Fenderson, Thornton, CO; Karla and Lupe Rodriquez, Berwyn, IL; from Mason, TN brother, Jack (Betty) Adams; sister, Lue Alice (Arthur) Jackson and two sister-in-laws, Bonnie Adams and Rosie Mae Adams; one sister-in-law Dorothy Adams and one brother-in-law Lee Andrew (Shirley), Graves, Decatur, IL; sister-in-laws Zannie Blevins, Chicago, IL and Nell Boyland, Memphis, TN; brother-in-laws Feaster Williamson (Jean), Mason, TN and Exum (Georgia) Williamson, Memphis, TN; special nephews Lee (Cathy) Graves, Jr., Roger L. Graves, and Elder Wayne (Angela) Graves, Decatur, IL; special nephews Larry (Carolynn) Adams, Maywood, IL and Louis (Louise) Williamson, Detroit, MI; special friends Flordia Fakes and Beatrice May, Decatur, IL; ex-daughter-in-law Evelyn Williamson, Springfield, IL; ex-granddaughter-in-law Tonnja May, Joliet, IL; 10 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and nine sisters.
The family would like to thank Davita East Wood Street staff, Dr. Trachtenberg, Dr. Dawood, and the St. John’s Healthcare nurses for their concern and care of our loved one.
Services to celebrate Thelma’s life will be 12 noon, Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home in Decatur. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur.
