Ruth Dyson's Obituary
Decatur – Ruth Dyson, 87, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017, in her daughter Tracy, and son-in-law Arlton’s, home surrounded by family.
Ruth was born July 26, 1930, in Halls, TN, a daughter of Roy Lee and Lula Beatrice (Hudson) Tappler. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and married John Willie Dyson in 1963.
Surviving is her husband, John of Decatur; children: Carolyn J. (Hertis) Smith, Opalean (James) Calloway, Patricia Jelks and Yvonne Ward of Decatur, Farris (Clifford) Manns of TN, Danny Ward of Decatur, Sterling Dyson of SC, Michael Dyson and Tony Dyson of Decatur, Marshall Tyrone (Vicky) Dyson of TN, Tracy (Arlton) Johnson and Glenda (Larry) Stitt of Decatur; thirty-six grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Louise Cunningham of Decatur; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; three sons: two infants and Clyde Ward, Jr.; four grandchildren; one great grandson and son-in-law, Ferris Jelks.
Homegoing services to celebrate her life will be 12 PM, Saturday, December 2, 2017, in Northside Missionary Baptist Church; visitation will be two hours prior to the service in the church. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Sadari Lasenby and the entire Hospice Care staff as well as the doctors and staff at Cancer Care Specialists for the loving care and concern shown to Ruth.
