Ruth Hurst's Obituary
Ruth Hurst, 82, of Decatur, passed away ay 8:55 am Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Ruth was born August 19, 1926, in Decatur, daughter of Fredrich and Wilhemina Barr Lipka. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was retired from Peacock Cleaners, and was a member of the Salvation Army’s Women’s Home League. Ruth loved to cook, especially during the holidays. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Ruth leaves behind one son, Jim Hurst, of Crosby, TX; one daughter, Pam Lonnie England, of Chestnut; grandchildren, Tawny Randall Forehand, of Decatur; April Davis, of Springfield; Zachary Hurst, of Mishawaka, IN; Chelsey Jeremy White, of Oreana; two great-grandchildren, Robert Simer, of Decatur; Calleigh Ross of Springfield; and two sisters, Anna Smith, of South Bend, IN; Margaret Robert Henderson, of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, several brothers and sisters, and one son.
Funeral will be 11:00 am Monday, January 12, 2009, in Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. John Laux officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the church. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Salvation Army’s Women’s Home League, or Trinity Lutheran Church, 1960 East Johns Avenue, Decatur, IL, 62521.
