Ruth Marie Sibert's Obituary
Decatur — Ruth Marie Siburt, 74, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in Decatur, IL. Ruth was born on August 13, 1951, in Decatur, IL to Earl and Beulah (Clayton) Traughber.
Ruth married her husband, Mike Siburt, on May 9, 1970, in Decatur, IL, with whom she built her family. She worked as a teacher's assistant in the Decatur Public Schools system for years and was a lover of literature. Ruth was a published author of children’s books as well as a lover of poetry, reading, singing, and crocheting. She attended the Church of the Brethren as well as attending church in Cerro Gordo. She deeply adored her husband, children, and her grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her son Matt Siburt, of Decatur, as well as her daughter, Pattie Dannewitz (Mark) of Decatur; two grandchildren, Ty Siburt and Brooklyn Siburt of Decatur; brothers Bob Traughber, Bill Traughber, and Harold Traughber; and sister Dorthea Wood.
Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, Mike Siburt; parents, Earl and Beolah Traughber; brother, Earl Traughber; and sister, Iva Brunner.
Ruth knew how fortunate she was to be known by and belong to God. Her life was blessed with love. Ruth was blessed to be born into her family and doubly blessed to find her husband and be grafted into his family and triply blessed to have a fine foster daughter and a wonderful son. She believed that God has been gracious to her beyond all imagining.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Ruth’s honor to Decatur Public Schools or the Church of the Brethren.
A visitation for Ruth will be held on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. followed by a memorial service at 11 A.M. at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will take place at North Fork Cemetery.
