Ruth Ellen Waltrip's Obituary
Decatur-Ruth Ellen Waltrip, 94, of Decatur passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Symphony of Decatur with her family by her side.
Ruth was born April 9, 1919 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Charles and Ulah Mae (Hutton) Cottingham. She was a devoted homemaker. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed sewing, music, and was very active her in the church. She married Max W. Waltrip September 20, 1941 in St. Charles, Missouri. He preceded her in death October 10, 2008. They shared over sixty-seven years together.
She leaves behind her sons Ron Waltrip and wife Diane of Springfield, Gary Waltrip and wife Beverly of Decatur, daughter Janet Green of Wheaton, eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, infant daughter, four brothers, and three sisters.
Services to celebrate Ruth's life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Trinity Nazarene Church, 1645 S. 44th St. Decatur. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Kickapoo Cemetery in Charleston. Memorials may be directed to the Nazarene World Missions.
