Sam Walker's Obituary
Decatur-Sam Walker, 63, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, Illinois.
Sam “Bobo” Walker was named after his grandfather. He is the son of the late David Walker Sr. and Hannah Goodman Walker. Sam “Bobo” Walker came to live in Decatur IL. with his family, Blanch Gordon the mother of his children and friend, Daughter Sherry Gordon, and son La’Sam Gordon in 1979. From Clarksdale Ms. He loved his family more than anything in this world. He suffered the greatest lost in his life when his daughter was kidnapped and murdered on October 31, 1984. He learned to cope with this loss but never truly got over it. By November 1983 he had his mother and nine her siblings here to support him.
He leaves to cherish his memory. His son La’Sam Gordon of Decatur IL. Granddaughters Tiffany and Tiara Gordon, Grandson Dionte Gordon. His brothers Tommy Lee and Leroy Walker of Decatur IL. His Sisters Willie Murel Henning, Clara Walker, Hannah Walker, and Rosetta Walker all of Decatur IL. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, daughter, Brothers Earl Walker, Timothy Walker,and David Walker. Sisters Georgia Walker and Willie Mae Walker. His nephews Willie and Leslie Walker
Graveside services to celebrate Sam’s life will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 20, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery in Decatur.
