Samuel D. Yonker's Obituary
Decatur – Samuel D. Yonker, 88, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022.
Sam was born on December 5, 1933, in Decatur, IL, the son of Gerald J. Yonker and Mary E. Fleming, prohibition day as he was proud to tell everyone. He was a graduate of St. Teresa High School. He was proud to play football and baseball there with his buddies that remained lifelong friends. He was a lifelong Cardinal fan.
Sam married Jacqueline (Hoyt) Yonker on November 20, 1954, at St. Thomas Church. Together they raised four daughters, Sue (Colby) Schwarze of Decatur, Peggy (Jeff) Lenz of Stuart, FL, Joanie (Walt) Jarmay of Tequesta, FL, and Cheri Yonker of Jupiter, FL; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Sam was past president of the Decatur Homebuilders Association, and a member of the National Association of Homebuilders. As a prominent contractor in Decatur, he built many homes in the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. He received many awards for his homes. After moving to Jupiter, FL, he built some of the finest homes on Jupiter Island, and the Palm Beach area.
As his business slogan said, “When You Consider The Finest…….. Think of Yonker Homes.”

Donations in Sam’s memory may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes or St. Teresa High School.
