Sandra L. York-Mahon's Obituary
Sandra L. York- Mahon, 75, of Decatur passed away Monday, April 22, 2013, in Heartland Health Care with family by her side. She was born on June 19, 1937, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Nora Constant.
At Sandy’s wishes, a graveside service celebrating her life will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Sandy may be directed to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
Sandy graduated from Decatur High School in 1955. She began her career in the office of Marvel-Schebler, then moved to Lincoln Laboratories, later to become Lincoln Diagnostics, Inc. Sandy retired as office manager of Lincoln in June 2001 after 37 years of dedicated service. She enjoyed cooking, loved shopping, dancing, reading, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, boating-even though she never learned to swim, playing cards, and treasured her cairn terrier dogs. “Nanny” as she was known to all who loved her was happiest when spending time with her family or helping them in any way she could. Her two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren were the lights of her life.
Sandy married Ed Mahon on October 27, 1993. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Debbie Sebok and husband Steve of Forsyth; granddaughters, Tina Sebok and fiancé Zach Palmer, Lori McCoy and husband Joey, all of Forsyth; great grandchildren, Hailee, McKayla, Shae, Kylee, Keegan, Chloe, Ryne, Cruz, special sister-in-law, Anne Constant of Decatur, and beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son Charles Isaac, husband Ed, brother Eldon Constant, and parents.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital as well as Heartland Health for their kind and compassionate care during her journey.
In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still, you hold a place in our hearts no on can ever fill.
