From Danny Campbell,
Hello, to all of my family. For some who may not know me, I am Aunt Kay and Uncle Calvin’s youngest. I was asked to share a few thoughts today on behalf of the entire Campbell Family. Tammy and I, and Timothy and Alyssa, all wish that we could be here with you today to remember and honor Aunt Sharon. We love you all and our prayers are with you today.
Uncle Jack and Aunt Sharon were a big part of my childhood. There were countless times during which they invested in me, shared in church and family events, and took the time to share their love and share Christ with me. Whether it was going to church together as a young child at Oak Grove Church of the Nazarene, their trips to our home in various towns where Dad pastored, the late night and weekend table game tournaments in our home, family Christmas at their house, or the many, many Youth Bible Quizzing meets and tournaments at which we met and enjoyed so much. These were formative moments for me, and for my sisters, and enjoyable for our whole family. For their contribution to my memorable childhood moments I am extremely thankful.
I am also extremely thankful for knowing and serving my Lord. I love Jesus. Uncle Jack and Aunt Sharon were largely responsible for our family getting started in church in the first place. Their close relationship with my parents before any of them got saved naturally transitioned into our families serving the Lord together. I remember our parents working together in the children’s ministries, teaching Sunday School, VBS, Bus Ministry, family nursing home visits, Mom and Sharon sometimes singing together in the choir and special songs... Serving the Lord together during those days at Oak Grove Church were the “good ole’ days” for our family. I am extremely thankful that Mom and Dad came to know Jesus at that time and raised us in a Godly home. My sisters and I will be eternally thankful for that spiritually transitional time in the life of both our families.
There were several times that Aunt Sharon took the opportunity to tell me that she was proud of me. She left a lasting impact for Christ on my life. I am thankful for the grace of God which was offered to me and which is offered to each one of us through Jesus Christ. Everybody ought to know Jesus. Only what’s done for Christ will last. I am proud to tell you that I plan to see Aunt Sharon again when I go to be with Jesus in Heaven someday.
I will also definitely remember Uncle Jack and Aunt Sharon as funny and enjoyable people. Uncle Jack and Aunt Sharon made my Mom and Dad smile. It is so important to have people in your life whose presence causes life’s burden’s to be temporarily forgotten. Kids notice those things. Aunt Sharon’s smile, her laugh, even her playful antagonism with Uncle Jack…these I will remember.
To Billy, Angie, and Jackie, and to each of your families: May I express to each of you from Aunt Kay and Bill, Christine, Katrina, and me and our families…all of our condolences, love, and affection.
Danny
