Sheryl R. Sheay's Obituary
Decatur – Sheryl R. Sheay, 61, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sheryl was born in Shelbyville on February 18, 1953 the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Schwerdtfeger) Wittenberg. She worked as a CNA on 4100 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Sheryl loved to camp; spend time with her grandsons, daughter, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She married Lawrence F. Sheay August 20, 1994 and he preceded her in death on April 12, 2001.
Surviving is her son, Eric Todd (Heather) Maxey of Mt. Zion; daughter, Renee Maxey of Shelbyville; grandsons: Zachary and Braden; sister, Lori (K.O.) Kramer of Decatur; companion, Mark Layton of Decatur; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband.
Memorial Services to celebrate her life will be 11 am Monday, March 24, 2014 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Burial will take place in Stewardson, IL. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Passion Community Church, Mt. Zion.
