Shirley Mudd's Obituary
Shirley Lapearl Mudd, 83, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, in Freeport, IL, at Freeport Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by the care and support of her loved ones throughout her extended illness.
She was born on December 5, 1941, in Beecher City, Effingham County, IL. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Logsdon and Ruby Tipsword Logsdon. She married Robert Lee Mudd on November 11, 1963.
Shirley was a dedicated and loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life was shaped by her love of God and family, as well as the many connections she nurtured throughout her life. She had attended Second Church of God in Decatur. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, dancing, and playing cards with her friends.
God gave Shirley so many wonderful gifts in abundance. Her caring nature, generous spirit, and understanding heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Mudd; brother, James Logsden; and many extended family members.
Those surviving include: children, Timothy (Michelle) Logsdon, Penny (Thomas) Winkowski, Robert (Rob) Mudd, Lee Mudd, and Lisa Mudd Moore; several grandkids and great-grandkids close to her heart, the list too long to name them all.

Visitation for Shirley Mudd will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place in the same location the following day, Monday, January 13, 2025, at 10:00 am. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield following the funeral.
