Sonna Lou Hall's Obituary
Sonna Lou Hall, 86, passed away November 13, 2022 at Hickory Point Christian Village in Forsyth, Illinois.
Sonna was born in Decatur on June 22, 1936, the daughter of Russell and Elinor (Brown) Hamm. She married Charles Hall on September 19, 1954 in Oakley. Sonna worked as an accountant for Borg Warner (later Warner Ishi) for more than 40 years. She was a longtime member of the Oakley Brick Church of the Brethren. She frequented the Cerro Gordo Senior Center, where she took part in many activities. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading romance novels, cooking (especially chicken and noodles), playing games, and spoiling her grandchildren. She had a weakness for chocolate and appreciated being indulged with chocolate candies and milk shakes. She was well-known and will be fondly remembered for the way she cared for those who were ill or otherwise in need.
Sonna is survived by her sons: Thomas (Heidi) Hall of Oreana and Ted (Laura) Hall of Warrensburg; grandchildren: Matthew (Jenna) Hall, Cody Hall, Stephanie (Brendan) Murphy, and Jared Hall; great-grandchildren: Ariana Hall, Marlee Hall, Landen Hall, Tatum Hall, Bentley Hall, Charlie Hall, Olive Hall, Avorie Murphy, and Wilder Murphy; sisters Shirley (Carrol) Clarkson, Carol (Michael) Seidenstricker, Kathy (Michael) Gentry, and Judy Earl; sister-in-law Margaret Hamm; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother David Hamm.
Services for Sonna will be held on Saturday, November 19 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe Ave., Decatur, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00am until 11:00am, and a funeral service will immediately follow. Burial will be in West Frantz Cemetery in Oakley.
