Sonny Lowry's Obituary
Decatur – Sonny Lowry, 58, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at Decatur Memorial Hospital, after he lost his battle with cancer.
He was born May 1, 1961 in Decatur, the son of Janet (Buoy) Canal, Phillip Lowry and stepfather, DeWayne Kuhns. Sonny worked as a heavy equipment operator at Mervis Recycling. He loved to play pool, throw frisbee with his dog, Sosa, ride his motorcycle, hunt and fish, and spend time with his wife and family. He married Elizabeth A. (Rambo) on September 3, 2017, in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife, Liz of Decatur; son, Jacob R. (Kendra) Lowry of Decatur; granddaughter, Emma Rose Lowry of MO; mother, Janet Canal of Decatur; sisters: Elaine (Rob) Mayberry of Decatur, Cindy (Terry) Fair of TX, and Julie (Derek) Flanagan of CA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Sonny was preceded in death by his grandparents and fathers.
Funeral service to celebrate his life will be 6 pm Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home; visitation will be one hour before in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date.
