Stanley F. Bakunas' Obituary
Decatur – Stanley F. Bakunas, 91, of Decatur, passed away, Monday, November 14, 2016 in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Stanley was born October 6, 1925, in Springfield, IL, the son of Frank and Anna (Shadis) Bakunas. A Navy veteran of WWII, Stanley worked for Illinois Power where he ran the Internal Auditing Department before retiring in 1988. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #577. Stanley married Beverly Crumly on February 5, 1949.
Surviving is wife, Beverly of Decatur; children: David (Kem) Bakunas of Divernon and Steven (Elizabeth) Bakunas of Omaha, NE; Kathleen (John) Sauber of Caro, MI; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; sister, Agnes Galligan of Springfield; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and 2 sisters.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate his life will be 11 am Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Very Rev. Joseph M. Molloy, V.F., celebrant; visitation will be one hour prior to the mass in the church. Burial with military rites will take place in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
