Stanley Dean Wallis' Obituary
Stanley Dean Wallis, 69, died at Decatur Memorial Hospital on September 5, 2009, at 9:37 pm, from complications of a previous surgery.
Born December 16, 1939 in Decatur, to Curtis and Ruth Wallis, he graduated from Lakeview High School in 1957. Stan proudly served his country in the United States Navy until March 10, 1964. On April 22, 1961, he married Janie L. Gentry in Waterloo, IL, and was wedded for 45 years.
Stan will especially be remembered for playing pedal steel guitar and singing in the Country Generation Band with his wife, Janie, two brothers-in-law, Mike and Randy Gentry, and his son, Tim Wallis. In the past couple of years he enjoyed riding his Harley with his special friend, Doty, traveling, and living life with friends he made in the Springfield area.
Survivors include his two sons, Tim Wallis wife, Carla, Tony Wallis wife, Colette; one daughter, Tawnya Jackson husband, Tony; sister, Sally Hyatt husband, Billy; 10 grandchildren; and 3 1/2 great grandchildren.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother.
Graveside service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, September 10, 2009 in Union Cemetery, Oreana, with Military Honors by the Macon County Honor Guard. Visitation will be 6 – 8 pm Wednesday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home.
Stan’s children would like to offer their thanks to Dr. Minniganti, DMH ICU South Staff, and loving family and friends for their help and support.
Stan was a wonderful father in-law, son in-law, brother in-law, grandfather, and friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
