Stephen A. Whitney's Obituary
Stephen A. Whitney, 52, of Decatur, died in his home Wednesday, October 22, 2008.
Celebration of Life memorial service will be 7 pm, Tuesday, October 28, 2008 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5 – 7 pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
Stephen was born March 24, 1956 in Decatur, the son of Jack Sr. and Betty Cole Whitney. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during Vietnam War as a USS Worden from 1973 – 1977. He graduated from Richland Community College with an A.A.S. for welding. He was a member of Boilermaker Union Local 60, Sheet Metal Union, and Machinist Union. He loved to spend time with his family and animals. He loved to hunt, camp, and fish. He married Robin Delaney on May 31, 1979.
He is survived by his wife, Robin; mother, Betty Underwood Rob; son, Lance Whitney Jennifer; daughter, Gina Whitney Len Owen; brothers, Jack Whitney Jr. and Bob Whitney; sisters, Judy Norem and Virginia “Ginny” Tipton; grandchildren, Olivia Whitney, Madison Whitney, and DeAngelo Alan Whitney-Owen.
Stephen was preceded in death by his father and brother, Richard “Buggs” Whitney.
The family of Stephen A. Whitney is being served by the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur, IL.
