Steven C. James' Obituary
Steven Carl James, 63, departed from earth to eternity on May 26, 2021 at 10:40 am.
Steven was born August 29, 1957, in Sikeston, Mo. to the union of Nathaniel and Northenia James. He was affectionately called “Steve” by his family and friends”. He was educated in the Sikeston and East St. Louis School Districts. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and his mother ensured that he was reared in the church. He loved to draw and was Blessed with a gift as an aspiring artist. Steve also had a great love for animals. His favorite was horses and he always kept a dog for companionship. He deeply loved and respected his family. He had a very tight bond with his siblings, he looked up to them and they all looked out for him. Steve worked as a Laborer for Macon Resources throughout his adult life.
Steve is survived by all 8 of his siblings. Joe N. (Charace) James of North Stonington, CT; Susie B. Whitelow of Indianapolis, IN; Larry J. James of Decatur, IL; Linzy P. (Sherea) James of Decatur, IL; Calvin C. (Angie) James of Madison, IL; Arthur R. James of Indianapolis, IN; Sharon D. James of Steamboat Springs, CO; Ray M. James of Decatur, IL. Survived as well by a very special, supportive and dear first cousin, Ms. Bethany Bean. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family and many wonderful friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his father Nathaniel James as well as by his beloved mother, Northenia James.
Steve will be greatly missed by his siblings, family, friends and all who knew him.
Homegoing Celebration will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Church of the Living God P.G.T., Temple 2. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery immediately following the Homegoing Service.
The Moran and Goebel Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Steven.
