Terrance J. "Terry" Peters' Obituary
Decatur – Terrance J. “Terry” Peters, 78, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 in his home.
Terry was born in Decatur, IL on May 18, 1935 the son of Robert O. and Margaret (Friend) Peters. He graduated from St. Teresa High School in 1953 and worked as a union plumber for 50 plus years before retiring. Terry was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Moose Lodge, and Local #65. He loved watching his grandson’s sporting events and attending his granddaughter’s graduation this past May in Chicago. He also loved the Cubs, dancing, going to the Decatur Athletic Club and Dancey Brass. Terry married Katherine M. Moran on April 25, 1964 and she preceded him in death on September 24, 1996. Also preceding him were his parents and brothers: Dan, Jim, and John.
Surviving are his children: Brian Peters of Decatur and Cheryl (Brad) Jackson of Mt. Zion; grandchildren: Lauren Jackson of Chicago and Bennett Jackson of Mt. Zion; brothers: Larry (Soupy) Peters of Decatur and Rev. David Peters of Highland; sister, Mary Lou (Bill) Johnson of Decatur; and sisters-in-law: Patricia Grant, Carol Moran, Judy Peters and Gretchen Peters-Hantel all of Decatur; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 11 am to 12 pm in Holy Family Catholic Church. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 pm in the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
