Ellis, Terry's Obituary
Terry Gale Ellis, 76, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024 at Lincolnshire Place in Decatur, Illinois. He was born January 26, 1948 in Decatur, Illinois to Robert Ellis and Ella “Mickey” (Hazel) Ellis. He was a proud resident of Decatur, Illinois.
Terry was a graduate of Springfield High School in Springfield, Illinois. He was a retired Sergeant of the United States Air Force. Terry retired from AT&T in 1999 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion for 54 years and a life member of the AT&T Telephone Pioneers. Terry was a dedicated husband, father, grandparent and great grandparent. He was an avid movie buff. Terry’s true passion was tennis. He would play multiple times a week his entire adulthood. If you couldn’t find Terry on the tennis court, you could find him watching it on tv.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Beverley Jean (Brennan) Ellis; son Chris Ellis and wife Alison (Riverton, Illinois); Grandsons Chris Ellis, Clayton Ellis, Chandler Ellis, Conner Ellis and Elijah Ellis; Great Granddaughter Ashlyn Jane. Terry was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ella; stepfather Verne Templeton; brother David Ellis; and son William Ellis.
Friends, family and others are invited to Graceland-Fairlawn Funeral Home on September 11, 2024 from 2pm to 4pm to reminisce and honor the life of Terry. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Researchwww.michaeljfox.org
