Decatur-Theirald Jack Mendenall, Jr., 70, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 in Lincoln Rehab.
Services to celebrate Jack's life will be 1 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the funeral home. Private family burial with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
Jack was born May 5, 1942 in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Thierald Jack Mendenall, Sr. and Thelma Virginia (Lowe) Cassell. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Jack and Sandy Mendenall owned Rambos Tavern. Following that, he joined his father, Jack Mendenall Sr. in ownership of Mendenall Decorating. He enjoyed playing pool, traveling, and watching movies and television. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He married Sandra 'Sandy' Kaye Logue August 11, 1979 in Decatur. She preceded him in death March 22, 2007.
He leaves behind his son Theirald Todd Mendenall and fiancé Kelsey Picklesimer of Lutz, Florida, daughter Paula Mendenall of Phoenix, Arizona, father Theirald Jack Sr. and wife Gloria of Decatur, stepfather Edgar Cassell Jr. of Decatur, brothers Bruce Cassell and wife Debbie of Decatur, Greg Mendenall of Decatur, Mark Mendenall and wife Kathy of Decatur, and Jeff Mendenall of Taylorville, sisters Brenda Wilson and husband Gary of Galesburg and Susie Mose of Decatur, grandchildren Jimmy, Tony, Ethan, Cody, Colton, and Raven Mendenall, and great-granddaughter Audrey Mendenall.
He was preceded in death by his mother, wife, and step-mother Ruth Mendenall.
The family would like to give special thanks to beloved cousin Marsha 'Sam' Peters for all of her loving care.
