Thelma Ruth Law's Obituary
Thelma ‘Ruth’ Law went to be with The Lord on Tuesday, August 26, 2014, at home surrounded by her family. Ruth was born December 24, 1932 in Ford City, PA, the daughter of Warren and Viola Yount Hartman. She married James Law on June 9, 1958.
Ruth loved spending time with her family, was a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother who taught by example that it was better to give than receive. She also enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing, working in her flower gardens, and going to garage sales. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook.
She was very devoted to caring for the elderly and retired from the Eastern Star Home in Macon, IL.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Law of Mt. Zion, IL, daughters Rosemary (Jack) Crissman, Mary Ann (Ted) Drake, both of Decatur, IL, and son Mike Law of Mt. Zion, IL. She also leaves behind her sister, Anna Mae Hollobaugh of Ford City, PA, brother Wendell (Mutzy) Hartman of Apache Junction, AZ, sisters-in-law Gail Hartman and Shirley Hartman of Mt. Zion, IL, grandchildren Alan Johnston (Shelli), Michael Law Jr. (Tiffany), Ted Drake III (Julie), Jayme Cameron, and Laurel Hewitt (Matt). She had 10 beautiful great-grandchildren: Chris, Quinn, John Michael, Alissa, Olivia, Amber, Timothy, Dimitri, Joel, Lily, and soon to arrive, Elly Ruth.
She also leaves behind John (Joyce) Law, Sally (Ray) Stitt of Ford City, PA, Tom (Ruth) Law of Haddam Neck, CT, Annette Beverly of Jupiter, FL, Nancy Law Ewing of Indiana, PA, along with many nieces, nephews, and her best buddy, her Yorkie Binky.
Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Bobby, her parents Viola and Warren Hartman, infant brother Warren Earl , and brothers, George Hartman of Ford City, PA; Paul and Kenneth Hartman of Mt. Zion, IL.
The family is honoring her wishes for cremation with no services. In lieu of flowers please send memorials to our beloved charity Little Friends, 140 Wright St., Naperville, IL 60540, who work tirelessly for children with autism. We would also like to give a special thank-you to Granny’s friend and granddaughter, Shelli for her loving and devoted care, Dr. Brooke Ballard, and the doctors and staff of the 6th and 11th floors of St. John’s Hospital.
