Theresa M. Somers' Obituary
Theresa Terri Somers, 85, of Decatur, died at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 in Fair Havens Christian Home.
Ms. Somers was born September 22, 1925 in Strawn, IL, daughter of Frank J. and J. Agnes Harrington Kuntz. A charter member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Terri was a member of a bowling and golf league for many years and loved to play bridge. She attended St. Teresa College in Winona, MN and Bradley University in Peoria before attending Medical Technology training at St. Mary’s Hospital. She worked for St. Francis Hospital in Peoria and St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Terri married L. Thomas Somers September 7, 1946 in Strawn, IL, and he preceded her in death March 14, 2006. Also preceding her in death is one son, Dennis; two brothers: Bud and John Kuntz; two sisters: Francina Mellenberger and Julia Garavalia and daughter-in-law, Phyllis.
Terri is survived by her five sons; Mark wife, Cheryl of Joliet, IL, Matthew of Davenport, IA, David wife, Denise of Decatur, IL, Barry wife, Janet of Woodridge, IL, and Brian wife, Amy Jo of Washington, IL; daughter-in-Law, Jeany Leimbacher Somers of Wausau, WI; 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 9, 2011 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. with a vigil prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial Celebrating Terri’s life will be Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Weltin celebrant. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. in St. Rose Cemetery, Strawn, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
