Tom was one of my roomates at Lewis College and always remember his kindest and fun personailty. Always fighing the diabetes every single day from a very young age but never made a big deal out of his routine of taking insulin every day. Eventhough we have not seem each other in years I have only fond momories of our time at college. My sincere condolences to wife Fran and family.Jim O'Dea
I met Tom at work at South Shores Imaging. He was such a nice man. We had nice conversations, with the last one about his pet dog. I show dogs and we talked about that too. I am so sorry and very sad to hear of his passing. My deepest sympathy to his family and friends. Lori Yotter

So sorry to hear of Toms passing….The good memories he gave to SO many of us, including his family will help to sustain you in this time. Our prayers and love to the Cantwell and Johns family….I know Tom loved you all and was especially proud of his grandchildren….Keep those memories close to your heart and share them with the kids as they grow up so they will always remember their grandfather…GOD BLESS all. As a classmate of Tom's at both St.James & St.Teresa, I can attest he always had a smile to go along with his positive attitude. His musical skills were second to none and those in his typing class saw him fly past us all. While we all realize both his family and friends will surely miss him, maybe he will prepare some music for us all as he enjoys eternal life with God.Dan Morrison
Tom was one of the special people that God had put on this earth. He often approached me about joining the choir at Holy Family, but with our travels and spending four months each year in Florida, I had to turn him down. I wish now that I had said yes. He always had that special twinkle in his eye. He will be sorely missed. From Penny and I, our sincere condolences to the family.John and Penny Barry
Among the Sweet Memories that cannot be taken away: Mr. Tom Cantwell. As a young seminarian arriving to the United States from Nigeria in 2001, I still remember my days at Holy Family parish in Decatur, Illinois. As a way of familiarizing myself with the American Catholic liturgical songs, I joined the great men and women members of the Holy Family choir in Decatur under the Music Directorship of Mr. Tom Cantwell. I still remember the trip to Dairy Queen after our rehearsal. Mr. Cantwell has a great smile, the infectious kind that would melt your heart even when you are having a bad day. The choirs of Angels and the members of the churchâ??s triumph most be blessing to have Tom among them.Requiescat in pacem. Amen.Rev.
