Thomas L. Cook's Obituary
Thomas L. “Tommy” Cook, 55, of Decatur, died Monday, September 7, 2009.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:15 am Friday, September 11, 2009, in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Grant as celebrant. Visitation will be 5:00 ' 7:00 pm Thursday in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a Vigil Prayer Service at 4:30 pm. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Tommy was born on March 15, 1954, in Decatur, the son of Harry M. and Ruby Haws Cook, Sr. He married Carmelita Osborne on June 17, 1989 in Decatur. He was a member of Ss. James & Patrick Church. He worked for Aramark Co. as a sales representative, and received a top sales award for his region. He was a member and Trustee of the Teamsters Local 279 . Tommy played football, basketball and baseball at Eisenhower High School. Tommy is a member of the Decatur Athletic Sports Hall of Fame, and was a member of the ASA National Champions Fast Pitch Team for ADM, the first team for ASA West Central Regional All Star Team, and the IL State ASA Fast Pitch Championships for Lingenfelters. Tommy was a member of the gold medal winning ADM fast pitch team at the Olympic Sports Festival. He also loved to fish for bass.
Surviving is his loving wife, Carmelita; his parents, Harry M. and Ruby Cook, Sr.; son, Chad Campbell Beth, of Decatur; granddaughter, Kaylee Caldwell of Decatur; grandson, Troy Shepherd Ruby, of Danville; great granddaughter, Amilia Shepherd, of Danville; great grandson, Troy Shepherd; of Danville; brother, Harry M. “Rocky” Cook, Jr. Janice, of Forsyth; sister, Marylou Hay, of Minneapolis; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
