Decatur- Thomas E. Shaw, 63, of Decatur passed away at his home, November 21, 2011.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of Thomas will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2011 at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family of Thomas.
Thomas was born July 10, 1948 in Brownsville, Tennessee the son of Willie and Rosie Flagg Shaw. He was a teacher in his day and taught Math and History to 5th graders in Detroit, Michigan. He proudly served his country in the US Army and was a respected artist.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, mother, children: Danielle Farr, and Quincy Shaw; step-children: Stephain Wilson, Calbin Wilson, Latoya Wilson, and Alexia Owens; sisters: Rosie Shaw, Helen Lester Manns, Gloria Dinkins, Martha Flagg, Dorothy Flagg, Christine Flagg, Huha Braggs, brothers: Kurtis Flagg, Rufus Flagg Jr., and Jerry Flagg, five grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was Preceeded in death by his father Rufus Flagg Sr., maternal father, W.L. Shaw, sisters: Betty Coleman Flagg, and Cecillia Flagg.
Thomas was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. He loved to joke and have fun and spend time with his family.
