Thomas S. Ward's Obituary
Thomas S. Ward, 92, of Decatur, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016.
Tom was born March 20, 1924, in Decatur, IL, the son of William and Mary (Crisp) Ward. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII earning a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN, and worked as a social worker for the State of Illinois. Tom married Evelyn Boehm on October 24, 1953, in Decatur, IL, and they shared 62 wonderful years together.
Tom was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Holy Family Parish. He was a hard worker who loved to work around the house and the yard. He will be missed.
Tom leaves behind his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Angela Brockley and husband Robert of Northbrook ,IL; granddaughter, Leslie Brockley of Chicago, IL; and sister, Agnes Hilty of Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and Edward Ward; and sister, Frances Pohl.
A graveside service to celebrate Tom’s life was held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at Mt.Gilead Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Tom may be made to Holy Family Parish.
