Veda E. Carroll's Obituary
Veda E. Carroll age 91 of Decatur went to be with the Lord at 5:55 pm Thursday January 8, 2004 in the residence of her granddaughter.
Memorial Services celebrating her life will be 5 pm Friday January 16, 2004 in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with a visitation one hour before in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Moweaqua. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be made to the family at: www.moranandgoebel.com
Veda was born in Oconee, Illinois on March 24, 1912 the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Martha Ellen Virden Rogers. She married Robert Dowd he preceded her in death in April 1968, she later married Dallas F. Carroll, he too preceded her in death. She was a supervisor for the Eldorado Street Garment Factory for many years. She later worked in the nursery at Sparetime Lanes for 20 years in Decatur, finally retiring in 1998. She was a newspaper carrier for the Herald and Review for many years. She attended several different churches in town. She was raised in the Methodist Faith. She bowled in three different leagues in Decatur. She loved to spend time gardening.
She leaves behind, her sons; Earl Eugene "Bud" Dowd and wife Betty from Anthony, NM, Robert Ray " Butch" Dowd and wife Linda of Anthony, NM, daughters; Wilma Jean Huegel and husband Robert of Burlington, Iowa, Joyce Puckett which Veda lived with for many years of Decatur, one sister; Frances McCarty of Decatur, Illinois.12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
