Velma Parker's Obituary
Decatur ' Velma Faye Famous Parker, 85, of Monticello formerly of Decatur passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012 in Piatt County Nursing Home.
Velma was born on January 21, 1927 in La Place, IL the daughter of Earl and Armanda Mabel Nance Parks. She had worked for General Electric, Rath Packaging and retired from Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She loved working in the yard, mowing grass and walking.
Surviving are her son, Mark Fawcett of Decatur; daughters, Kathy Fawcett of Monticello; Sue Helm Chad of Waterloo; brother, Dale Parks of Decatur; sister, Bessie Parks of Peoria; and three grandchildren, Zachary Day, Anthony Day, and Alec Helm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Harrison Fawcett; brothers, Clyde, Charlie, Lester, Vern, Floyd, George, Cloid, Jesse, and Albert; sisters, Freda and Juanita; and her special pet Holly.
Special thank you to the Piatt County Nursing Home Halcyon Unit for all the loving care they have given to mom and our family. This caring group of people made our nursing home experience a wonderful one.
Service to celebrate Velma’s life will be 10 am Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home with Pastor Wray Offermann officiating. The family requests casual attire. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery and conclude with the “Flight Home” ceremony. Memorials are suggested to the Piatt County Nursing Home Halcyon Unit.
