Verile Wilson Flagg's Obituary
Verile Wilson Flagg, was born into this life on Saturday, October 29, 1927 in Rosedale, Mississippi, to the proud parents of Louis Wright and Louella Scott-Ambrose.
As a child, Verile attended school in Mississippi. As a young girl, her days were spent working hard and growing strong. The lessons she learned early in life were exemplified in how she lived her life and loved others. Verile received Jesus at an early age and was baptized in the Mississippi River. She spent her life testifying to the goodness of God. Her strong love for, relationship with, strength, faith, and trust in God set the foundation and precedence for her relationships with others.
On November 29, 1942 in Bolivar County Mississippi, Verile united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Willie Roy Wilson Deceased. The twelve blessed seeds born into this union are, respectively, Leroy Wilson Deceased; Chaney Lee Henry Wilson; Elizabeth Bradford; Willie Mae Wilson; Lula Harris; Ann Marie Wilder; Gwendolyn Wilson; Frank Lewis Diane Wilson; Louella Michael Wilder; Verile Wilson; Vernice Lee Wilson; and Kathleen Tommy Sr. Garmon, all of Decatur, IL.
Upon her moving to Decatur, IL, Verile attended Community Temple, Northside M.B. Church, and St. John M.B. Church, where she served faithfully as an Usher, a Choir Member, on the Deaconess Board, Mission Board, and Mother’s Board. She and her children later joined in fellowship with, The Church of the Living God P. G. T. Temple #2. Sis. Flagg’s time there was spent continuing a faithful work for the Lord in areas previously listed and other capacities. Through faithfully raising her children to love and regard the Lord, on Saturday, May 26, 1973 in Decatur, IL, God blessed Verile to unite in marriage to Elder Peoria June Flagg. To this union were joined, respectively, Lonnie Henry June Denise Flagg of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mary Flagg; Elizabeth Flagg; Martha Ann Flagg; Sally Ann Flagg; and Sammuel Lee Flagg, all of Decatur, IL.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2008, surrounded by her beloved children and family members, Verile’s soul departed quietly from this life into life eternal as she took hold of Jesus’ hands to embrace His promises.
Verile leaves to cherish fond memories of her life spent with family, friends, and others: Her husband, 17 Children, 59 Grandchildren, and 113 Great-Grandchildren, 1 sister, Jackie Brown and 1 brother Jewel Billy Foxx, both of Decatur, IL, one Aunt, Charlie Stanley a very special great-grandson Adrian Lewis, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Verile will be truly missed, but the love she shared with others will never be forgotten.
Verile was preceded in passing by her parents, her first husband, three sisters: Emma Marie Clayton, Florence Lee Matthews, and Odessa Sayles; one brother, James C. Ambrose, one grandson, and four great-grandchildren.
Homegoing service celebrating Verile Wilson Flagg’s life will be 11:00 am Saturday March 15, 2008 in the Church of the Living God Temple # 3 PGT with Bishop Thomas Cooper officiating. Visitation will be 9:00- 11:00 am Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
