Decatur-Vesta Nichols Buckley, 96, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Graveside services to celebrate Vesta’s life will be 1 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2011 at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational Church.
Vesta was born May 24, 1915 in Shelby County, the daughter of Walter J. and Naomi Walls Nichols. She was previously employed with the Office of General Assistance retiring after thirty-five years of service. She was a member of First Congregational Church. She married John Butler. He preceded her in death May 29, 1959. She then married Willard Buckley September 22, 1961. He preceded her in death November 26, 1990.
She leaves behind her sisters Violet Sullivan of Decatur, Lois Means of Decatur, Jenny Snyder of Decatur, and Florence Smith of Shelbyville, and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husbands, three sisters, and three brothers.
