Decatur- Villus Ervin Watson, 73, of Decatur, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 in Aspen Ridge Care Center in Decatur.
Visitation to celebrate Villus's life will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 in Moran & Goebel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2801 N. Monroe Street, Decatur, IL, 62526. Private burial will take Place at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale, Il.
Villus was born December 17, 1938 in Murphysboro, Il, the son of Novuter and Lucy (Doakes) Watson. He was baptized by the church of Christ in Carbondale, Il. Villus worked for CIPS in Murphysboro, Il. He retired from Caterpillar after 25 years of service and married Annie Bernice Nicholson in December 1960. They had 5 children.
Villus is survived by his sons, Anthony of Decatur, Antione of Decatur and Alfred (Vonda) of Decatur; daughters, Sheila Henz-Myrick of Valdosta, GA, and Annette (Terry) Bowers of Decatur; brothers, Virgil (Lula) Watson of Trenton, TN. and Vester (Lucille) Watson of Covington, GA.; sister Viester (John) Wells of Highland, CA.
He was preceded in death by his dad, mom, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
The family would like to thank the staff at Aspen Ridge Care Center, Paula Pebbles, Sheila Shipp, Decatur Memorial Hospital ICU, 4th floor staff, Dr. Bailey and Heartland Health Care, James Nicholson, Robert Woods Sr. and Sam Bankhead. Memorials may be directed towards the American Diabetes Association and the Kidney Dialysis Foundation.
