Viola Lucille Vowell's Obituary
Decatur-Viola Lucille Vowell, 93, of Decatur, went to be with Jesus at 6:05 a.m. Thursday, November 28, 2013 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Viola was born June 17, 1920 in Sadorus, Illinois, the daughter of William Nelson and Girtha Victoria (Richardson) Wilson. She retired from Eldorado Garment and was a devoted Christian, wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and homemaker. She loved and was a member of West Side Nazarene Church where she was very involved in church activities. She also loved spending time with her family, church family, and playing cards and games. She married Lester Vernon Vowell July 22, 1945 in Decatur. He preceded her in death February 14, 2000.
Viola leaves behind her daughter Gloria Lourash and husband Randall of Decatur, grandsons Rob DeJaynes and wife Sharon of Decatur and Ed DeJaynes and wife Michelle of Decatur, and great-grandchildren Andrew, Braxton, Juliana, Devona, Dekglen, and Logan.
She was reunited in Heaven with parents, husband, and brothers Floyd and Cecil Wilson.
Viola will be deeply missed by all of her family until they are reunited in Heaven.
Services to celebrate Viola’s life will be 3 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013 at West Side Nazarene Church, 1224 W. Grand Ave. Decatur, with Pastor Steve Cecil officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Moran & Goebel Funeral Home. Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at Mt. Zion Township Cemetery in Mt. Zion. Memorials may be directed to West Side Nazarene Church.
