Virgil Ferguson's Obituary
Virgil Raymond Ferguson, 93, of Argenta, passed away Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the VA Medical Center in Danville.
He was born on February 4, 1931, in Ashley, Illinois. He was the only son of the late Raymond and Caroline Johnson Ferguson.
Virgil served his country in the United States Armyduring the Korean War before working at Caterpillar until his retirement after 37 years. After retirement he worked for several years at the Decatur Public Building Commission. Virgil was a very outdoors type of person gardening and raising cattle. His giving heart was not only for his family that he cherished and enjoyed but others that he met along the way. Virgil had a true servant's heart and his since of humor was unmatched.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Norma Jean Ferguson.
Those surviving include son, Rodney Ferguson and wife Karen; daughter, Susan Burton and husband Brian; grandchildren, Zachary Ferguson and wife Hannah, Taylor Ferguson, Shyler Kraus and husband Brandon, Wyatt Burton and husband Kasey; greatgrandchildren, Darren and Melanie.
The family would like to thank the staff at the VA for their compassion and love throughout his stay there.
Virgil will be laid to rest at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Friends Creek Township Cemetery in Argenta.
